Creating happier and healthier communities

Lex Leisure is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that has been established to build upon the legacy of two successful paralympic games in London and Rio, the Invictus Games and other sporting events that have helped to inspire persons with physical, mental or health related inequalities to be physically active.

Lex Leisure seeks to operate leisure venues on a commercial basis with a view to generating a surplus that can be used for our principal objective of supporting those who are disabled, physically or mentally or who require support or bespoke care plans to stay physically active. Read more about our Primary Objectives.

As a leisure operator with golf facilities, we are also able to offer golf facility management as another opportunity to encourage community members to stay active away from the traditional leisure centre or indoor environment. Being active in the outdoors is a fantastic way to improve and maintain health and well-being and adds a different dimension to physical activity.

Services

Leisure

With a focus on the primary objectives of the Community Interest Company Lex Leisure are able to operate a range of leisure facilities, from community halls, to wet and dry leisure centres, school and dual use sites, to more complex contractual arrangements that include PFI, PPP and DBOM structured leisure contracts.

There is an extensive variety of sports and activities on offer from swimming, to GP referral programmes, to squash and badminton. Specialist health programmes are also on offer to include obesity and weight management programs, diabetes support and dietary advice.

We work with a number of partners to deliver these activities and always welcome partnership discussions that will support our communities and provide additional opportunities to stay active, mobile and healthy.

Golf

We recognise that not all activity needs to take place in a recognised leisure centre or indoor environment, and to that end we are also able to offer golf facility management as another opportunity to encourage community members to stay active.

Whether it’s 9 holes or 18, golf provides an excellent opportunity to stay active by walking the course at your own pace, which assists in mobility and also increases core strength and flexibility.

We are always looking to expand our current portfolio, so if you have a community golf course that requires a more focussed approach to marketing to improve participation or would like to utilise your course for similar target audiences, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Primary Objectives

Established to build upon the legacy of two successful paralympic games in London and Rio, the Invictus Games and other sporting events that have helped to inspire persons with physical, mental or health related inequalities to be physically active.

The objectives of Lex Leisure are to deliver activities which benefit the community, and in particular to provide access to leisure, physical activities and sporting opportunities for persons with physical or mental disabilities, or those with health inequalities who are faced by difficulties that limit their ability to be active.

We place an emphasis on those persons who are registered or considered disabled, physically or mentally, on a permanent or temporary basis, or who have a need for rehabilitation and support, or persons who have conditions that limit their ability to take up normal exercise without guidance or bespoke care plans. We also target those members of the community who are at risk of social exclusion, and engage with all of these user groups to adopt a more active lifestyle.

While our primary objectives are to support these target groups, we do not endorse exclusions. Therefore all members of the community are welcomed and encouraged to adopt healthier and active lifestyles using the facilities that we manage.

About Us

Lex Leisure is a Community Interest Company (CIC), structured as a private company limited by guarantee.

Lex Leisure seeks to operate leisure venues on a commercial basis with a view to generating a surplus that can be used for our principal objective of supporting those who are disabled, physically or mentally or who require support or bespoke care plans to stay physically active.

Lex Leisure, working with key partners, wants to empower disabled people to take a more active role in all aspects of sport and physical activity and for our facilities to be more inclusive and to provide a greater range of sporting opportunities for disabled people.

As a CIC we are able to attract external funds and grants from industry, commercial organisations and other bodies to support us in delivering community based programmes, targeted towards our key user groups and target audiences.

Lex Leisure is an independent organisation led by Directors Kim Arrenberg, Peter Mills and David Swinburn.

The Lex Leisure Directors meet every quarter to review the performance of each contract, be kept up to date with new development opportunities and to review grant funding opportunities that will benefit the primary objectives of the organisation.
